AWARDS

Three submission categories are offered; graduate, undergraduate and community college. ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to anyone writing on a criminal justice related topic. Submission deadline is Friday, April 12, 2024. The student paper contest takes the students’ work out of the classroom and into the world of professional dissemination. The paper is in the public realm. Editorial assistance, therefore, is encouraged to make the paper as good as it can be, according to the norms and standards of our criminal justice professional culture. Participants need not be matriculated in a criminal justice program. Student papers require a NEACJS faculty sponsor at the student’s institution and the sponsoring faculty member must submit papers. No paper will be accepted if received directly from a student. Only one paper from a student will be accepted per year and should be submitted electronically in Microsoft Word Format to the NEACJS organization email: neacjs@gmail.com.

SPECIFICATIONS

Papers must concern a relevant criminal justice topic, and may be conceptual and/or empirical. Again, papers are to be submitted in Microsoft Word Format, double-spaced, and be from 10-25 pages in length (excluding references). Any standard academic format for the organization of text, citations, and references may be used. Identifying information including the author’s name, email address, college and program affiliation and address, category of competition (GRAD, UNDERGRAD, CC), or home address and phone number should appear ONLY on the title page. The second page of the manuscript should include the title and a one paragraph abstract. Students should submit their work to a faculty member, to screen the papers for quality and to ensure that they meet these specifications.
